Wife Swap is Looking for Las Vegas Families

Long time listener Ted Newkirk from AccessVegas.com sent this along. Looks like ABC-TV's Wife Swap is looking for Las Vegas families “who embodies the Vegas lifestyle”, meaning they are somehow connected to the gaming industry. All the families featured on the show will “receive a $20,000 honorarium.”

Potential families applying for the show should consist of two adults (hence the swapping) and have at least one child, age 5 or older, living at home. To submit for the show, call 646.747.7948 or email a family photo and description to Casting Producer Rachelle Mendez at rachelle.mendez@rdfusa.com.

Good luck! (And no, you can't have Melissa.)

Fire at Monte Carlo Casino

Big fire being reported on all the local stations. The Monte Carlo was evaculated, as was New York New York. News says that the Monte Carlo evacuated folks have been directed to the MGM Grand Arena. Reports say that there may have been welders on the roof (where the fire started).

Melissa was coming home from the airport during the fire...she said there were sparks flying everywhere. The fire appears to be on the south-facing side, pointing toward NYNY. There were some reports on Bellagio being evacuated...the hotel called a local station to deny. Google map indicates I15 stopped north and south between Tropicana and Flamingo.

Scott is Quoted in Today’s Newspaper!

I was interviewed last week by a reporter from the Las Vegas Review-Journal about how “digital music players” are used for much more than just music. The article appeared today. Here’s the URL for those interested: http://www.lvrj.com/living/13967247.html or http://www.podworx.com/CompanyInformation/pr-Media-080122.cfm As you might expect, because the reporter called me in my capacity as grand poobah at PodWorx, we talked about corporate podcasting as it relates to the iPod, Zune, Rio, etc. It’s amazing how a 45 minute conversation with a reporter equates to so few quotes! [grin]

Happy Anniversary, Living in Las Vegas Podcast!

This past Saturday, January 12, marks the two-year anniversary of the Living in Las Vegas Podcast. Melissa and I have enjoyed putting together this little dog and pony show for y'all and have been especially touched by all the listeners who we've been lucky enough to meet in person and hear from via email, comments and our LiLV Listener Line. There are many exciting reasons to do a podcast. But the one thing we did not expect is that we have made many new friends because of this show. It's amazing the type of relationship you can start with just a microphone and an idea. We thank everybody for listening and look forward to another great year together. -- Scott
