85: UNLV Basketball - Go, Fight, Win!

November 21, 2010

You’ll hear time and again that Las Vegas lacks culture. Really? Besides the strong art and music scenes here in the valley, many forget that Las Vegas is home to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. There are tons of UNLV supporters of all ages, many of whom are feverish fans of the Runnin’ Rebels basketball team.

For today’s Living in Las Vegas Podcast, we join in the excitement and check out a great UNLV Basketball game at the Thomas and Mack Center. Show notes:

Melissa just called to tell me that tonight, UNLV men’s basketball is planning Firstlook 2009, featuring the Runnin’ Rebels’ first official practice of the season.  It begins at 9:00PM tonight at the Thomas & Mack Center.  Doors open at 8:15PM.  Food/beverages will be available.

According to the press release I found, 4,000 fans attended last year’s Firstlook event.  This year’s event will “feature an increased amount of team and individual drills as well as shooting competitions to give fans a chance to see many of the new players. Eight Runnin’ Rebels who did not play in games last season are on this year’s roster.”
